About Program:
PCI, India is a technical partner of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission. PCI is providing technical assistance around integrations of Health & Nutrition (HN), Gender and Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) and Decentralised Renewable Energy interventions with community platforms promoted by UPSRLM. UPSRLM has promoted a community based Decentralised Renewable Energy Company Prerna-OJAS. Prerna OJAS was the outcome of million soul initiative supported by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. After the Million Soul project got over Prerna-OJAS a private limited company is in the business of manufacturing and supply of Solar Based products and implements DRE initiatives with rural communities. PCI, India has collaborated with Prerna-OJAS for providing technical assistance for supporting Prerna-OJAS for improving its systems, business operations, management, marketing, branding, business development and design, development and implementation of DRE pilots for ushering green revolution in Uttar Pradesh. The technical support will enable Prerna-OJAS is creating 1 lakh Green Jobs for rural women leading to economic empowerment of Rural Women.
Position Summary:
The Business Development Expert will play a key role in driving growth and expanding market presence for the Prerna OJAS company in the solar and renewable energy sector. This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and creating tailored solutions that align with the company’s objectives and sustainability goals. The Incumbent will be required to formulate Business Plans, Proposals, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), scout and identify opportunities for business development, will assess and improve product designs, packaging and branding. The role requires in-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, market trends, and DRE regulatory frameworks for Prerna OJAS. The incumbent will report and work in close supervision of CEO-Prerna OJAS and Associate Director-HN & WEE
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Development
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue business opportunities in renewable energy, sustainability, and aligned sectors.
- Develop growth strategies and action plans to expand market presence and secure funding streams.
- Conduct market research to assess potential partners, funding opportunities, and industry trends.
- Fundraising and Grant Management
- Research, identify, and secure grants from multinational agencies, government programs, and philanthropic organizations.
- Write compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications tailored to donor requirements.
- Manage grant agreements, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and timely reporting.
- Proposal and DPR Development
- Prepare detailed and persuasive project proposals to align with client and funder requirements.
- Develop Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) outlining project objectives, financial models, technical plans, and implementation strategies.
- Ensure proposals and DPRs are data-driven, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with organizational goals.
- Partnership Development
- Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, government bodies, corporate entities, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in donor meetings, industry conferences, and workshops to strengthen partnerships.
- Negotiate terms and agreements with partners to secure favorable outcomes.
- Capacity Building and Advocacy
- Train and mentor team members in fundraising techniques, proposal writing, and grant management best practices.
- Advocate for the organization’s goals in industry forums, policy discussions, and public platforms.
- Tasks as and when required depending upon the program’s requirement.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Renewable Energy, Engineering, or related fields/ MBA- Rural Management/ Masters in Public Policy, Finance.
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in business development within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar energy.
- Proven track record of closing high-value deals and developing large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Experience in working with Women SHG and Entrepreneurs will be added advantage.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of solar energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and market dynamics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in financial modelling and project management tools.
- Ability to analise regulatory frameworks and their implications for business operations.
