- Qualification required: PhD/Master’s in Fishery and related fields
- Experience required: At least 5-7 years of experience in implementation of Fishery Projects on a large scale.
- Skill and Competencies:
- Working experience with State Rural Livelihood Mission will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communications skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proven ability to develop and implement operational plans, SOPs, and to monitor and evaluate performance against targets.
- Strong communication, networking, and partnership-building skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners.
- Experience working in SHG-based enterprises will be an added advantage
- Proficiency in Project Management, Project planning and Project monitoring skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills in Hindi and English; ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both the languages is a must.
- Ability to operate and lead under pressure and in challenging situations; and take quick and firm decisions.
- Willingness to travel to the field and ability to work against tight timelines.

About the Role
Key Responsibilities: Under the overall guidance of State Embedded Team of PCI, the Fishery Technical Expert would undertake the following:
Project Planning and Design
- S/he will be responsible for study of the different models of fish farming and finalizing of the models which can be adapted in Uttar Pradesh with the community platform.
- S/he will be responsible for developing and finalization of Sop’s, guidelines, training modules and other IEC materials and knowledge products on fish management practices by providing technical knowledge and knowhow.
- S/he will support in organizing consultative workshops and stakeholder’s meetings.
Project Implementation/Technical Assistance
- S/he will be responsible for developing prototypes on different types of models of fishery e.g. hatchery, cage model, pond cultivation, Bio floc etc.
- S/He will be responsible for identification and development of project intervention sites, development of fish value chain interventions etc.
- S/he will be responsible for training and capacity building of Staffs and SHG members on the management practises of fishery.
- S/he will be responsible for resolving the technical challenges faced by SHG members in day-to-day management of fish units.
- S/he will support in development and strengthening of Farmer Fish Producer Company by providing the technical inputs to the members. S/he will be responsible for developing market linkages for the fish produce.
- Interact with government officials and other stakeholders at the district and block level for the initiative on fishery.
- Should coordinate with the district and block mission staff for organizing exposure visits on fishery.
Reporting & documentation
- Submit monthly, quarterly and yearly reports on the progress of the intervention
- Support in documentation of success stories, case studies, compendium on best practices of fishery.
- S/he will keep a track and oversight of the beneficiaries linked to government schemes for financial assistance.
- S/he will be responsible for providing relevant information to supervisor and M&E team.
About the Project:
PCI, India is a technical partner of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission. PCI is providing technical assistance around integrations of Health & Nutrition (HN), Gender and Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) interventions with community platforms promoted by UPSRLM. The technical support is designed to strengthen UPSRLM in its core areas as well as in the emerging areas of Women Economic Empowerment which includes promotion of livelihoods of rural women by means of fishery. The project is specifically for providing technical assistance to UPSRLM for enhancing the livelihoods of marginalized women through promotion of fisheries as a means of livelihood.
The overall support entails co-creation of a strategy with UPSRLM in its core intervention areas for integration WEE including strengthening of UPSRLM’s internal system, structures, institutional mechanisms and processes. PCI India provides technical knowhow to UPSRLM for building strategy and designing strategic interventions on integration, building upon learning from successful models, providing systematic and catalytic support through cascade capacity building of staff and cadres, handholding, mentoring, technology based digital solutions and quality assessment to ensure successful implementation of those interventions in a defined geography.

Recruitment Process

- Group Discussions may be part of the interview process for certain positions.
- The process could also include presentation of the assignment.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend one or more rounds of panel interview/s.
