About the Project:
Through UPAMA (Uttkrisht Parivar Niyojan adhikar Sangrakshan Matritwa Swasthya Abhiyan) project, PCI proposes to focus on developing and demonstrating critical metrics in the designated districts of Sheikhpura, Katihar, Khagaria and Patna urban PHCs, which can become models of FP and MH, which, in turn, can be showcased, replicated, and scaled up in other geographies in the future.This project seeks to optimise the use of a range of Government schemes, provisions and facility-level care around maternal health and family planning services by women and their families needing appropriate care by systematically working with Government health systems, Centres of excellence and development partner forums.
The “Systems Strengthening for Addressing Gender Based Violence for Creating a Women Friendly Ecosystem” goal aims to enhance government department systems for decision-making and responsive action on GBV. The project’s goal is to reduce the number of GBV cases in intensive geographies (measured through mid-line) and across the state. Over a period of three years, the project will also integrate MIS systems within the WCDC department for state-level report collation and evidence generation on GBV cases and responsive action. Furthermore, the project seeks to improve the capacities of women police, doctors, and judiciaries in delivering services to GBV victims, as measured by assessments during sensitization sessions.
The project objectives are to collaborate with various government departments to strengthen their response mechanisms against GBV. This will be accomplished by promoting the effective implementation of laws through GBVIMS, reviewing existing policies for GBV, and utilizing GBSS through the concerted efforts of various government bodies.
About the position:
The UNITE to End Violence against Women initiative is a multiyear effort to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world. The initiative, launched in 2008 under the leadership of the UN Secretary-General, was created to support the civil society led 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign around the world.
Popularly known as the Violence Against Women Fortnight Campaign (or VAW Campaign), it calls on governments, civil society, women’s organizations, young people, the private sector, media, and the UN system to join forces to address the global pandemic of violence against women and girls. The global theme of 2023’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, which runs from 25 November to 10 December 2023, is “UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls”.
UNFPA Bihar, Project Concern International (PCI-Bihar) and Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS) have joined hands to run the VAW Campaign 2023 in Bihar. The three partners have in past developed the skills of youth champions from various colleges and clubs across Bihar in using social media as a platform to circulate positive social change-oriented messaging so that negative gender and social norms are challenged and changed.
In this backdrop, UNFPA Bihar, Project Concern International (PCI-Bihar) and Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS) are organizing a SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN CONTEST in December 2023. To implement the contest, Project Concern International seeks a Technical Consultant for supporting in the organization of the mentioned workshop.
Scope of Work
Creating a framework and guidelines for the SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN CONTEST (which will include – (a) short films (audio-visual) of 45 seconds to 90 seconds to be circulated on various social media platforms; and (b) photograph/ poster with text message to be circulated on various social media platforms.
Providing technical advice to Project Concern international on running the campaign (such as need for creating a google drive space where contestants will upload their entries as well as viewership evidence, which social media platforms to use, etc.).
Providing guidelines for participants on – (a) how to create the film, photograph/ poster, (b) how to upload and promote it on social media platforms, and (c) how to submit it for judging, (c) what will disqualify the entries, etc.
Providing guidelines and support to Jury members and be a part of the panel to judge the films and photograph/ poster.
Undertaking 1 day travel to Patna for the prize distribution ceremony during which a presentation will be done for Youth on how to create social media content (such as film, photograph/ poster, etc.) to influence the community positively and play a leadership role in social change for gender equity.
Deliverables:
● Creating a framework and guidelines for the SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN CONTEST.
● Providing technical advice to Project Concern international on running the campaign.
● Providing guidelines and support to Jury members and be a part of the panel to judge the films and photograph/ poster.
● Undertaking 1 day travel to Patna for the prize distribution ceremony
Qualifications and Competencies:
The technical expert should possess the following qualifications and experience:
● Candidate must have Bachelor Degree/Diploma or equivalent degree in Arts/Science/Commerce or a related field from a reputed university/ institute.
● A proven track record of conceptualizing and organizing similar workshops and events.
● Technical expertise in organizing social media themed events for youths.
● Experience in working with adolescent groups and with the development sector.
