About the Position

  • Job Title: Associate Director, Health and Nutrition
  • Reporting to: Director, Health and Nutrition
  • Number of positions: 1
  • Location: New Delhi
  • Salary Range: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Contract: 12 Months (based on the Project requirement and individual performance)
  • Qualification required: Bachelor’s degree in medicine from a recognized university is essential (MBBS). Candidates with MD in Community Medicine or master’s in public health (MPH) stand at an advantage.
  • Experience required: 10+ years’ experience in projects on health in low resource settings. At-least 5+ years’ experience in partnership management.
  • Skill and Competencies:

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to lead and work in a team.

Ability to create pitch documents/presentations.

Ability to travel frequently to areas around the country.

Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and leadership skill, with strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and quick decision-making ability.

Proficiency in local vernacular, Hindi, English and working knowledge of MS office is required.

About the Role (Including Team and Reporting)

  • Responsibilities:
  1. Contribute to quality implementation of interventions under the Jeevika Technical Support Unit project (JTSP) in Bihar.
  2. Develop reports and keep track of the JTSP budget and workplan.
  3. Guide the JTSP team to document best practices.
  4. Strengthen Health and Nutrition portfolio by developing new ideas on contemporary themes such as Climate and health, AMR etc.
  5. Develop new strategic partnerships aimed at raising the visibility of PCI’s strengths in the health sector.
  6. Manage current partnerships.
  7. Contribute to ideation for new project designing including budget management.
  8. Coordinate with other vertical teams of PCI to work together on new proposals and to keep updated on current and upcoming projects.
  9. Create pitch documents to share with potential donors.
  10. Establish and maintain connect with relevant government stakeholders to share PCIs work and identify upcoming opportunities of interest.
  11. Establish and maintain contact with other relevant stakeholders.
  12. Keep abreast of new policy and programmatic developments in thematic areas of PCIs interest.
  13. Provide techno-managerial support to existing health and nutrition projects.
  14. Coordinate and manage project teams to ensure quality delivery of on-going programs.
  15. Travel to project locations to supervise and guide project teams.
  16. Contribute to technical upskilling of PCI HN staff on thematic areas of interest.
  17. Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

About the Project

The dream of achieving ‘happy, healthy and safe communities’ stands at the core of the overall vision of the growth center for Health and Nutrition at PCI. PCI strives to achieve this vision by adopting holistic, multi-pronged, multi-disciplinary approaches that place ‘communities’ at the heart of all health programming. We improve community literacy on health issues, promote individual and social behaviour change for adoption of healthy lifestyles, empower communities to demand for health services and facilitate equitable access and distribution of health and nutrition services and entitlements. Our community-based programs are co-designed with target communities and implemented by leveraging and strengthening government systems.

PCI’s work is expansive, covering the themes of Maternal, Newborn, Child Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Neglected Tropical Diseases and Infectious diseases including Tuberculosis and Malaria, One Health, Non-Communicable Diseases including Cancers, Immunization, Family Planning and Strengthening Health Systems. We have extensive experience in Nutrition, Food Systems and Nutrition-sensitive agriculture. PCI’s strong monitoring, evaluation and research, gender and Climate teams ensure intersectionality within all health programs. 

We provide technical assistance to the national government and several state governments on a variety of health and nutrition programs. Through our continuous engagement with government and non-government policymakers and program leaders, we have contributed to policy shifts at various levels. We have large, skilled teams on the ground who implement programs in 7 states of the country. 

The health and nutrition work of PCI is expanding. New partnerships are being built and the ongoing ones need to be maintained. We are also working towards mobilizing resources from conventional and non-conventional donors for our work with communities for health and nutrition. Additionally, the ongoing projects need techno-managerial guidance. Therefore, we would like to onboard a committed, dynamic and energetic individual at the position of Associate Director to support the health team. It is expected that 50% of the Associate Director’s time will be occupied in partnership management and resource mobilization, 30% in ideation and project design and 20% in project management.

Recruitment Process
