The strength of SHGs provided a strong platform for initiating a Family Planning (FP) Learning Lab in Samastipur district where several innovations were ideated and designed to promote delaying, spacing and limiting pregnancies among poor and vulnerable people. The innovation’s objectives were to develop operational procedures and behaviour change communication tools to facilitate household and couple level interactions for decision-making around FP and contraceptive use. The designing phase followed by the testing phase was completed successfully in 2019 paving the way for a collaborative pilot in 10 blocks of 5 districts of Bihar with support from the Department of Health and JEEViKA.
