Consultant-Handloom Branding and Marketing

Overview

PCI India has been working in India since 1998. Over these several decades, PCI has maintained a diversified portfolio, working in the areas of health, nutrition and community development with programs focusing on low-income, vulnerable, and hard-to-reach populations in close partnership with national and state governments as well as civil society organizations.

 PCI’s mission is to empower people to enhance health, end hunger, overcome hardship, and advance women & girls. In India, PCI work in close collaboration with various social actors to create an enabling environment to improve the social position of marginalized populations, especially women and girls, as well as strengthen convergent actions on the ground. Knowledge and evidence-based decision making, and data driven management have been a hallmark of PCI’s programs in India.

Purpose of the Assignment

For securing rights and entitlements of women handloom weavers of Mubarakpur, Azamgarh PCI India is spearheading four interventions namely (a) welfare entitlements towards consumption equalization for ensuring that weavers realize cash and in-kind benefits of welfare schemes for which they are eligible. (b) primary research for designing customized policy for weavers (c) enhanced social protection coverage for weavers (d) branding and marketing assistance and tailored choices for the women weavers of Mubarakpur.

With respect to Branding and Marketing assistance PCI India is proposing to engage an expert consultant who has proven track record of working on the theme of handloom and is well connected with the agencies/experts in the thematic area.

Position Reports to: Associate Director – Program Strategy and Social Protection

Duration: Maximum 20 working days within a period of 5 months (Nov 2024 to March 2025)

Terms of Reference (ToR)

  1. Stakeholder Engagement and Mapping:

The consultant shall be responsible for identifying and introducing relevant stakeholders within the handloom sector, including NGOs, designers, online platforms, and other key players. This involves fostering collaborations that align with the project’s objectives and ensuring that all stakeholders are appropriately engaged in the project’s execution.

  1. Customized Proposal Development:

The consultant will be engaged in the development of detailed project proposals aimed at securing funding from relevant donors. This is to ensure smooth execution of the project in accordance with agreed timelines and objectives.

  1. Coordination and Capacity Building:

The consultant will coordinate with team members to organize and facilitate capacity-building workshops. The consultant will ensure continuous and effective communication across all teams, providing oversight to maintain alignment with project goals.

  1. Any other task as assigned by the supervisor.

The consultant shall largely be remotely working and may have to undertake need based travel as per PCI policy.
